Contractor MaceCompletedThe new World Headquarters of the Royal Bank of Scotland in Gogarburn in West Edinburgh was completed in 2004. It consists of an executive building with conference room, 6 office buildings and a stand alone energy center, in total 14.000 m2 of cladding, all set in a carefully planned landscape of in total 78 acres. The buildings are connected by an internal street, with internal curtain walling and glazed roofs. The visual appearance of the buildings is dominated by large Portland stones at concrete frames, that are supported for wind load by the continuous curtain wall behind. Eyecatcher is the slim canopy, running along the complete building edge, with a free outrigger span of almost two meters.
